Hon'ble Judge

Hon’ble Mr. Justice Khalid Yousaf Chaudhary was born on June 16, 1969, in Mirpur, Azad Jammu & Kashmir. After completing his Secondary education in 1984 and Higher Secondary education in 1986, he graduated from Government Degree College, Mirpur. He did Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from the University of Punjab, Lahore, in 1995, and later earned a Certificate in Quranic Studies from the International Islamic University, Islamabad, in 1996. He commenced his legal career in 1995 and was enrolled as an Advocate of the High Court of AJ&K on June 20, 1998, followed by his enrollment as an Advocate of the Supreme Court of AJ&K on September 22, 2004. Throughout his legal practice, the learned Judge handled a wide range of caseas including civil, criminal, revenue, banking, accountability, and constitutional matters and represented litigants from subordinate courts up to the Supreme Court of AJ&K.

During his professional career, the learned Judge actively contributed to the legal fraternity and Bar institutions. He served as Joint Secretary (1996), General Secretary (2001), and President (2009–2010) of District Bar Association, Mirpur. He also remained General Secretary of the AJ&K High Court Bar Association and General Secretary of the AJ&K Supreme Court Bar Association. Furthermore, he served as a Member of the AJ&K Bar Council from 2013 to 2017, and also held the office of Chairman, Executive Committee, AJ&K Bar Council. In recognition of his professional competence, he was appointed as Assistant Advocate General, Government of AJ&K (2006–2008) and later served as Legal Advisor, Mirpur Development Authority.

His Lordship was appointed as a Judge of the High Court of AJ&K on May 23, 2018, and served until July 2020, where he discharged his judicial functions with integrity, independence, and distinction. He was subsequently appointed as Custodian of Evacuee Property, AJ&K in March 2022, by the Government of AJ&K after consultation with the Hon’ble Chief Justice of AJ&K and the Hon’ble Chief Justice of the High Court. On December 29, 2025, He was elevated as a Permanent Judge of the Supreme Court of AJ&K.
